Case study: A school in Bromley

New timber windows at Mead Infant School

Premier recently carried out an installation at a school in Chislehurst on behalf of Bromley Council.

The school itself is a listed building with a long history of education. Built in the Victorian period and used for various types of education throughout the last 100 years, the school has been steadily extended throughout the years and now boasts a collection of buildings. The infant school is dedicated to providing early-years education with a distinctly personal touch, and has just one class for each year group.

The school required new timber casement windows. These had to match the style of the existing 1930s windows that they were replacing.

We installed three sets of timber casement windows, across a range of locations in the school’s oldest ‘Pennthorpe’ building. We made sure that our windows utilised thin astragal bars, so that the design would authentically replicate that of the 1930s windows before it. We also ensured that the windows were white, again to replicate the style of that particular period.

The governors of the school and the council were thrilled with the overall result, as were we.
